More than 30 operations for surgical treatment of obesity were conducted in Vologda region

In Vologda Regional Clinical Hospital No. 2 since 2024, bariatrics - surgical treatment of obesity. The intervention is suitable for people with sustained excess body weight.

Doctors do a longitudinal resection of the stomach. Up to 80% of the organ can be removed. The rest is transformed into a tube. The volume of the stomach will be 100-150 ml. In addition, the zone in which ghrelin is produced, the hunger hormone, is removed.

According to statistics, for a year and a half, the patient will lose up to 70% of excess kilograms, blood pressure normalizes, cholesterol decreases, diabetes of the second type goes into remission. Doctors emphasize that a positive result will come if the patient himself observes the diet, sleep, rest, active lifestyle.

Since the start, more than 30 successful operations have been carried out. The work is carried out within the framework of the national project “Long and active life”.
