More than 500 cases of breast cancer detected in residents of the Kaliningrad region

In the Kaliningrad region, a high level of early diagnosis of cancer remains. In just nine months of 2026, doctors of the regional Cancer Center identified 525 new cases of breast cancer, the press service of the institution reported.

In almost 80% of cases, doctors detect the disease at the initial stages, which greatly increases the chances of successful recovery. At the same time, the disease is diagnosed not only for women: since the beginning of the year, doctors have recorded five cases in men.

To remind of the importance of prevention, the oncology center held an open day. 79 women underwent free examination, six of them were sent for additional examination with suspected neoplasms.

According to the regional register, more than 7 thousand people are registered with a diagnosis of breast cancer. For comparison, 745 new cases were registered in the region during the whole last year.

Earlier, "MK in Kaliningrad" said that the children's clinic in Kaliningrad was warned because of a child with mumps.
