Employees of the Department for Countering Cybercrime of the Internal Affairs Department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee stopped the activities of a large fraudulent group, which included more than 80 people. Thanks to operational work, it was possible to prevent damage in the amount of more than 10 million rubles and protect more than 2 thousand citizens from scams. This sb.by reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Since the beginning of the year, law enforcement officers have noted an increase in the number of appeals of citizens on the facts of theft of large sums using the Internet. Attackers called the victims under the guise of employees of various organizations and law enforcement agencies, used psychological techniques and persuaded people to transfer their savings to them.
Analytical work has made it possible to establish links between participants in individual fraud episodes and to identify an entire system operating throughout the country. The operatives identified persons responsible for the operation of equipment, the selection of service personnel, as well as organizers and curators who are located on the territory of the neighboring state. The group included drops, couriers and specialists who ensured the uninterrupted operation of technical equipment.
As a result of the suppression of the fraudulent scheme, equipment worth more than 60 thousand rubles was seized. Prevented damage exceeded 10 million rubles, and more than 2 thousand citizens were saved from the actions of scammers.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to remain vigilant during telephone conversations with strangers, not to transfer money to outsiders and not to follow the instructions of people who pose as employees of banks, organizations or law enforcement agencies.
