“The struggle for minds goes on constantly”: in “Letuchka” explained why to regulate additional education

On September 10, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on licensing of certain types of activities. The draft law “On changing the laws on licensing issues” prepared by the Ministry of Economy was submitted for consideration. This topic was discussed in the program “Letuchka” on the YouTube channel “SBTV”, reports sb.by.

Lyudmila Gladkaia, a columnist for the newspaper “SB Belarus Today”, shared her opinion:

- This is a very important topic that has raised many questions from different sides. The first issue is the licensing of additional education for children and youth. The main requirement in this matter is to protect our children from all kinds of crooks, to ensure equal working conditions for both public and private entities. I'll say it again to understand. The sphere of education is state-forming. We will therefore regulate it in the national interest.” During the meeting, other topics were considered by the Head of State. But this one, in my opinion, is important in the first place.

Evgeny Gorin, a political columnist for the First Information TV channel, added:

- All over the world today there is a struggle for the minds of young people. Wars don't end. People used to run around with rocks, then came cold weapons, then hot weapons, missiles, nuclear weapons. Just because they are not shooting in your country does not mean that there is no war. The battle for minds is ongoing. Competition between governments and corporations is always there. In the modern world, everyone is trying to create his own army from the children of the enemy, so as not to send troops, so that there is no hot war, so that his citizens do not die, and that part of the citizens of one country suddenly rebelled against their own state and this state collapsed. It happens all the time. Licensing additional education, adjusting all these issues, placing dots on i is exactly what needs to be done.

Grigory Azarenok, a political columnist for STV, noted:

- Now a very big problem is information gypsy, and it is parasitic, including education. There are all these psychologists, some personal growth tutors. They even go to school and create like a personal growth circle and stuff. This information gypsy should be expelled from schools, this should not be, there should be public education. If a privateer comes and he conditionally wants to do aerial modeling there, I think he will be given a license, and this will be normal. And if such a pseudo-history - you need to take the license and preferably for 15 days.

Lyudmila Gladkaia said:

- Education is the future of our country. This is something we have been proud of since Soviet times. Foreigners come to our universities for a reason, but because our education is of high quality. Therefore, the President rightly says: “There should be no crooks especially in this sphere.”.
