Vladimir and Tamara Matyushkov celebrated 60 years of life together at the Palace of Civil Rites in Minsk.

Vladimir Matyushkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, received the State Prize of the USSR and the State Prize of Belarus. Tamara Matyushkova worked for 40 years in high school, candidate of philosophical sciences. Both studied at the Belarusian State University: Vladimir at the Faculty of Physics, Tamara at the History.
The first meeting took place at a dance in the lobby of the hostel. When Tamara first saw Vladimir, she immediately liked him. I wanted to invite him to a white dance, but the other girl was ahead. He turned her down. I told my friends that I will take revenge – I will marry him, Tamara Matyushkova shared.
Over the years, the couple, according to them, did not face serious quarrels. They shared their advice to keep the family together: “You have to respect each other, love each other and not prioritize your own interests. Always think together and look in the same direction.” Today the Matyushkovs already have four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
According to her daughter Olga Matyushkova, the family always celebrates important dates. “The idea to celebrate a diamond wedding in the Palace of Civil Rites came during a golden wedding. This is where my parents got married 60 years ago, she added. To celebrate, it was decided to revive their old photos. It was an interesting mini-film.
Head of the Palace of Civil Rites of the Main Department of Justice of the Minsk City Executive Committee Natalia Kalinina added that this year more than 25 couples celebrated their anniversaries. “More than ten couples celebrated 50 years together. There were jubilees celebrating 10, 20 and 40 years. One large family came to celebrate the coming of age - 18 years of life together, she said.
Any person can apply for the ceremony – a relative, friend or even a neighbor. “A solemn ceremony resembles the registration of a marriage, but instead of vows, family history is read. Some write in verse, others use professional terms. Reading them is always very touching and pleasant, concluded Natalia Kalinina.
