The Supreme Court ruled a conviction in a criminal case against the former general director of JSC Kommunarka. He was sentenced to seven years in prison with a fine of 1,000 base units (45,000 BYN), a Minsk-Novosti correspondent reported.
As told BelTA in the Department of interaction with the media of the Prosecutor General’s office, the former head was found guilty of abuse of power and official powers committed out of selfish and other personal interest, which entailed serious consequences (part 3 of article 426 of the Criminal code), as well as in taking a bribe in a large amount (part 2 of article 430 of the Criminal code).
The accused is also deprived of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational, administrative and administrative-economic duties for five years.
From 2022 to 2024, the defendant, knowing about the ineffectiveness of the innovative cocoa processing project, gave criminal instructions to subordinate employees to include in the project business plan and other documents deliberately false information about investment capital expenditures within the project, as well as economic indicators of its effectiveness.
Pursuing the goal of illegally obtaining funds from the innovation fund of the Minsk City Executive Committee, he organized the provision of deliberately forged documents to state bodies. As a result of illegal actions, the state suffered damage on an especially large scale.
In addition, in the course of interaction with the supplier of equipment for processing cocoa beans, he received material values for himself and his wife on a large scale from his representatives.
The bribe was due to the creation of favorable conditions for the supplier to implement the contract, as well as the possibility of successful conclusion of contracts for the supply of equipment in the future.
The sentence has not entered into legal force, can be appealed and appealed on appeal.
