Four residents of the Sverdlovsk region returned home as a result of an exchange of prisoners. This was reported in social networks by the Commissioner for human rights in the Sverdlovsk region Tatiana Merzlyakova.
“Such news is always awaited by all our countrymen, but especially by families whose relatives are in captivity. Today, as a result of the exchange, four of our countrymen returned home, Tatiana Merzlyakova wrote in her social networks.
The Ombudsman shared a particularly touching story: she was approached by a 19-year-old girl who is expecting a child. She wanted her husband to be able to see her baby. On the day of the prisoner’s return, the head of Kachkanar personally told his young wife this long-awaited news. Now she is waiting for her husband with the child.
The news pleased representatives of the local authorities – it has already been brought to the attention of the heads of the Sukhoi Log, Lower Salda, Ordzhonikidze district of Yekaterinburg, as well as the acting head of the city.
“We will trust that our guys who are still waiting for the exchange will also return home. The leadership of the country is doing everything for this, Tatiana Merzlyakova stressed.
Earlier, MK-Ural wrote that on August 19, 2026, 103 Russian servicemen returned home as part of an exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine. Among those released were two residents of Yekaterinburg, aged 23 and 39. Both fighters lived in the Academic district of the city, and Merzlyakova said the servicemen were included in the exchange lists after her appeal to federal ombudsman Yana Lantratova.
