“We have something to surprise and be proud of”: how Dzerzhinsk is preparing for “Dazhinka”

Bread and circuses! Dzerzhinsk is preparing to host the main holiday of bakers. There are less than a week left before the regional “Dozhinok”. Preparations are well underway. A large building was built in the city a year ago. A lot has changed since then, from roads to parks and homes.

Dzerzhinsk, a city even older than Moscow, is celebrating its 880th anniversary this year – and is doing so on a grand scale. For the first time in 25 years, regional Dazhynki will be held here – a holiday that will become not only a tribute to rural workers, but also a bright gift to the district-advanced harvesting campaign. The city has been fundamentally transformed: roads, courtyards, parks, squares, facades and even entry groups now look different. Dzerzhinsk is preparing to welcome tens of thousands of guests, and the program promises to be rich: from an open-air museum to a performance by a famous artist.

Three names, one story

Krutogorye, Koidanovo, Dzerzhinsk. Three names, one story. This city is not just ancient: it is even ahead of Moscow. In different eras, it became the center of Calvinism, served as a border between Poland and the USSR, and in the last century, the first machine and tractor station in Belarus worked here.

This year, Dzerzhinsk is again in the spotlight: for the first time in 25 years, Dazhynki will meet on this land. And for the city, this is not just a holiday - it is an occasion to show how much people are doing here and how carefully the memory of the past is preserved.

Daria Lembovich, Director of the Dzerzhinsky District Museum of Local History: “We have something to surprise, something to be proud of, and I really wanted to show these aspects not only to the residents of the city, but also to its guests.” Dzerzhinsky district has prepared a complex of exhibition windows, the so-called open-air museum, exhibition space. Folk art objects will be presented – this is straw weaving, woodworking, and pottery.” “The museum building has acquired signs. The museum has undergone cosmetic repairs.”.

Holiday as recognition of work

To celebrate the main district holiday of the village workers in Dzerzhinsk decided not by chance. The area is one of the front-runners of the cleanup. In the 880th year, it is also a gift. In those who have worked hard in the field, the state invests – and these investments are visible in every block, on every street.

Even the walls scream about the city's past. On the Second Leninskaya – a series of new murals. Each of the 10 describes a specific milestone in history, from the first mentions to the present day.

Ten murals on Second Leninskaya Street are a real visual chronicle. They tell about key epochs: from the first chronicles to the present. This is not just a decoration of the facades, but a way to remind both guests and residents: Dzerzhinsk has a rich and difficult history, which can and should be proud of.

Large-scale renovation: roads, squares, courtyards

Before Dazhynki, the city was noticeably transformed. We worked not only on aesthetics, but also on those areas where problems have accumulated over the years.

Roads were in need of repair, and now 18 kilometers of roadway have been paved. Three apartment buildings have been renovated. Five yards have installed charging stations for electric vehicles – a modern solution for a city that is thinking about the future.

Large-scale renovation affected the Center of Culture and the Central Square. Its territory was doubled, and the main decoration was a pedestrian fountain. But this is not all: the square itself is made in the form of a spike - a recognizable symbol of the holiday "Dazhynki".

Alexander Pischik, Deputy Chairman of the Dzerzhinsky District Executive Committee for Housing and Construction: “Almost 95% readiness of all facilities.” The central square of Dzerzhinsk is made in the form of a spike, which symbolizes the holiday "Dazhynki". On the central streets of the city of Dzerzhinsk - Minsk, First, Second, Lenin, Karl Marx, October, Fominykh - about 15 kilometers of electricity supply network were replaced. Work was carried out on lighting the streets that were, well, deprived of street lighting, such as “50 years of Victory”, part of the “Fomin” continuation, where we have an industrial zone and in the railway district.

The work was not just in the center. Updated infrastructure in residential areas, at the entrances to the city, in industrial and residential neighborhoods. Street lighting has appeared where it was previously lacking – it is not only about comfort, but also about safety.

The city is getting greener

Dzerzhinsk has clearly become greener. Only in the center planted more than eight thousand new plants. The old square was ennobled, next to which a monument in honor of the Internationalist Warriors will be opened. Nearby there was a bike path - another element of a comfortable urban environment.

Olga Levanovich, master of the area of improvement of Dzerzhinsky housing and communal services: “Literally the other day we finished a new flowerbed at the entrance to the city from the side of Stolbtsev at the intersection of the street 50 years of Victory, planted more than 7 thousand flowers. The flowerbed of Karl Marx Street near Belarusbank, the park of Afghans is also being ennobled. The water channel of the Dzerzhinsky district conducted, replaced the paths here. We planted young trees. More than 50 birches have been planted. Order is being restored at the entrance groups, 450 trees are being planted today. It is planned to disembark tomorrow and the day after tomorrow 115 fluffy birches on Bilodorozhka near Tikhaya Street. Also, 55 barberry shrubs are planned to be planted there the other day.”.

Greening is not just about beauty. This is about the quality of life: clean air, shade on hot days, comfort and a sense of care. And Dzerzhinsk understands this: the city becomes not only more elegant, but also more comfortable for everyday life.

The principle of “everything for people”

We adhered to a single concept and principle – “everything is for people”. And this approach is already yielding results: over the past few years, the city's population has grown by five thousand people. Dzerzhinsk never aspired to the title of a metropolis. Here live those who appreciate safety and comfort. More and more families come to the district center: they are attracted by affordable housing, well-maintained infrastructure, hospitals and schools within walking distance.

The city is changing not for a one-time effect, but for the sake of people wanting to live here, raise children, work and develop. And Dozhinki became an occasion to show these changes – large-scale, but at the same time very human.

What awaits guests: the program of the holiday

Before the festival-fair – very little time. Tens of thousands of people will visit Dzerzhinsk: those who at the cost of time and effort led the district to the victorious hammer, and those who came to support them. The best workers of the village will be congratulated on the stage - installation work at the final stage.

The city has noticeably improved, but there is no limit to perfection, so there is still time to prepare for everything. This Saturday in the district will be very interesting. Start at 11:00.

Thematic game zones will be deployed throughout the city, sports competitions will be held. The program includes concerts and fireworks. And at 20:30 on the main stage will perform Russian singer Stas Kostyushkina.
