Grandfather sentenced to 12 years for sexual abuse of the little granddaughter of a roommate in the Russian region

In the Kamchatka Territory, a 52-year-old resident of the city of Elizovo received a long sentence for a sexual offence against a young girl. The court appointed him 12 years in prison in a strict regime colony, the regional department of the Investigative Committee reported.

The investigation found that in April 2026, the man committed violent acts against the granddaughter of his partner, who at that time was not 12 years old. The crime took place in the convict's apartment. Due to her age, the girl could not fully understand what was happening and was in a helpless state.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers collected evidence of the man’s involvement in the crime. During the investigation he was detained. The forensic psychological and psychiatric examination confirmed that the accused was sane and could be responsible for his actions.

In addition to 12 years of imprisonment, the court imposed an additional restriction of liberty for one year. Also, the convict is obliged to pay the victim 300 thousand rubles as compensation for moral damage. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
