Girl courier caught in Saransk on scams

Law enforcement agencies of Mordovia have completed investigative actions in the case of a 22-year-old girl who acted as a courier for fraudsters. She is charged with aiding in the theft of funds in excess of 1 million rubles from a resident of Saransk, using a common fraudulent scheme called “delivery of a bouquet”.

The scheme of the crime began with a phone call from an alleged employee of the delivery service, after which persons posing as representatives of the FSB and Rosfinmonitoring were involved in the fraud. The attackers managed to convince the woman that she was suspected of financing extremist activities. Under intense psychological pressure, the victim followed the custodians’ instructions, giving them their geodata, personal photos and information about their savings.

The victim gave the courier gold products and cash 430 thousand rubles, and later – another 350 thousand rubles. In addition, at the request of criminals, she spent 144 thousand rubles on the purchase of cryptocurrency. The total amount of damage exceeded 1 million 50 thousand rubles.

The accomplice, a native of the Arkhangelsk region, was detained in Moscow. It was established that she participated in similar fraudulent activities in Kursk and Saransk. She sold the stolen gold in a pawnshop, and the proceeds, both cash and electronic, transferred to the organizers of the criminal scheme, leaving a certain percentage. The collected materials of the case were transferred to the court for further consideration.
