NLMK wood waste turned into biochar
NLMK continues to develop the processing of wood waste

NLMK continues to develop the processing of wood waste. As reported in the administration of Lipetsk, more than a year ago, the plant began to send for processing all the wood that remains after production and repair work.
Every year, the enterprise produces about 8 thousand tons of such waste - packaging, pallets and old structures. Now they produce biochar, which partially replaces the fuel in the release of ferroalloys - additives used to improve the properties of the metal.
According to the company, thanks to the project, it is possible to save about 2 thousand tons of fuel per year and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 5 thousand tons. This amount of emissions is comparable to the annual emissions of 1.5 thousand passenger cars.
The project is being implemented within the framework of the Federal Clean Air Initiative.
