Ex-assistant Deputy of the state Duma fined 1.5 million rubles

The Central District Court of Chita sentenced a former assistant to the State Duma deputy to nine years in prison for fraud on an especially large scale, the press service of the FSB department in the Trans-Baikal Territory reports.

According to the agency, the man was looking for people who wanted to avoid service themselves or help their relatives. He claimed that he could influence the decisions of the leadership of military formations through representatives of the authorities.

For his services, the defendant demanded 1.5 million rubles. At the same time, he had no real opportunities to influence the decisions of officials: he misappropriated the money received, deceiving customers.

The court appointed the convicted nine years in a general regime colony and a fine of 1.5 million rubles. A criminal case was initiated under part 4 of article 159 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation on fraud on an especially large scale. The sentence has not yet entered into force.
