The expert explained why it is not necessary to keep relics and old icons at home

First, we are talking about the relics of the saints. The requirements are the strictest. According to pious tradition, the ark should stand in a separate non-residential room. There you can not sleep, eat or run pets. If there is no free “clean” room in the apartment, it is simply not worth keeping the relics of the house.

Secondly, these are old icons. If the paint crumbled so that you can not see the face, or it is an old paper picture that can no longer be restored, you do not need to keep it in a living room.

A separate theme is paintings on biblical subjects. Many people confuse them with canonical images. The expert emphasizes: these are just works of art. It is impossible to pray in front of them, and you should not put in the red corner either.

What to do with unnecessary or damaged items? Ivanov advises to take them to the nearest temple. The priests will gladly accept them, and later hand them over to hospitals or needy parishes.
