The expert revealed whether the toxic smog in Malaysia threatens Russian tourists
Smoke in Malaysia will not cause Russians to refuse to rest in Southeast Asia

Smoke in Malaysia will not be the reason for the refusal of Russians to vacation in Southeast Asia. About this in an interview with VFocus Mail said Vice-President of the Russian Union of travel industry Yuri Barzykin.
The smoke was caused by forest and peat fires on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Kalimantan: wind carries smoke across borders, deteriorating air quality in Malaysia and neighboring Singapore. According to The Straits Times, on the morning of October 12, harmful levels of pollution were recorded in 22 districts of the country, the southern state of Johor suffered the most. Smog has already led to air traffic disruptions and school closures.
However, as Barzykin noted, there is no reason to talk about a decrease in the interest of Russians in the region.
“This situation has no effect on the tourist flow. Now the main directions between which the Russian tourist flow in the region is distributed are Thailand, Vietnam and China, the expert believes.
According to him, the demand for Asian destinations continues to grow, and Vietnam shows a particularly noticeable dynamics, where the Russian tourist flow, according to Barzykin, grew by 11 times. At the same time, he stressed that he does not have detailed information about the situation with smog directly in Malaysia, and it is premature to talk about the mass refusal of Russians to travel. At the same time, the environmental situation can cause inconvenience to tourists located in certain areas of the country.
Travelers in Malaysia are advised to reduce walking and sports outdoors, and if you need a long stay outside use respirators N95 or FFP2, which protect against small particles of smoke better than conventional masks. In the premises, you should keep the windows closed and, if you feel worse, consult a doctor, and before departure, check the status of the flight and official air quality indicators, since pollution is distributed unevenly.
Earlier it was reported that Russian tourists were blocked in hotels in Mauritius because of the riots.
