Expert of the RSPC “Mother and Child” reported how the culture of responsible parenthood is being formed in Belarus

Responsible parenting begins with the education of young people and the formation of a serious attitude to their own health and reproductive behavior in the younger generation, and for this purpose there are 60 youth-friendly centers in Belarus. This information was announced to journalists by the head of the monitoring information and methodological department of children's health RSPC "Mother and Child" Anna Simchenko, writes BelTA.

According to her, these are structural units of children's outpatient clinics, which are engaged in education on reproductive health, healthy lifestyle, prevention of risky behavior, formation of a responsible attitude to interpersonal relations and future parenthood.

- This year, 74 educational programs for adolescents and young people have been developed and successfully implemented by the centers of friendly attitude towards adolescents. They are designed from the perspective of studying the issues that most concern teenagers. It is this systematic work with young people that creates the basis for conscious parenthood, strengthening the institution of the family and preserving the reproductive health of future generations, said Anna Simchenko.

She also noted that today in Belarus people are consciously approaching pregnancy planning and parenthood

- Our parents are preparing for the birth of a baby. For the first half of the year, 274 schools for pregnant women and future fathers provided a huge number of classes, more than 7 thousand. More than 35.6 thousand parents attended the classes, including more than 4.5 thousand men. The topics in demand are psychoprophylactic preparation for childbirth, support for breastfeeding, care for a newborn child, immunoprophylaxis, maternal and child nutrition.
