FCS experts told how to calculate fake bills
Specialists of the Central Forensic and Expert Directorate (CECTU) of the FCS of Russia have unique technologies for recognizing counterfeit banknotes, including US dollars and euros
On the eve of the 35th anniversary of the FCS of Russia told the chief inspector of the Department of expert support of operational activities of the FCS Ilya Belenky.
On the example of almost 200 thousand US dollars (16 million rubles), seized in case of non-declaration, he explained the method of checking banknotes. First, experts assess the appearance, size and location of the inscriptions, then under a microscope study the method of printing, watermarks, protective fibers and luminescence in ultraviolet and infrared rays.
Automata, he said, check only public signs, and some of the protective elements are “secret” and checked manually. The expert advises an ordinary person to pay attention to the relief of signs, the differences in the signatures of the Minister of Finance and the treasurer and the glow of protective fibers and tape under the UV.
