Experts estimated the wintering stock of locusts in Kalmykia and Astrakhan region

In Kalmykia and Astrakhan region summed up the results of a joint survey of border territories. Specialists worked in the Yashkul district of Kalmykia and the Narimanovsky district of the Astrakhan region to assess the wintering stock of herd locusts. During the raid, 700 hectares of farmland were surveyed. The pest density was low and averaged 0.1 specimens per square meter.

The exit was attended by heads of branches of Rosselkhozcenter, scientists from KalmSU and employees of district departments. The collected information will allow you to plan a set of protective measures in advance. Specialists will pay special attention to the areas where settlement was recorded, as well as neighboring lands. Monitoring work continues, and the data obtained will become the basis for recommendations to agricultural producers to prevent the development of pest foci in the spring.
