Another 70 residents of the Kostroma region signed contracts with MO

In the Kostroma region, another 70 people signed contracts with the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Among the new contractors are residents of the region Rafael and Mikhail, who spoke about the reasons for their decision.

Rafael decided to go to the service after friends with whom he met while studying at the Kostroma Engineering College. He expects to undergo combat training and apply the skills acquired in construction and welding. According to him, it is important for him to support his comrades and carry out tasks together with them.

Michael signed the contract for the second time. He first went into service in 2023 and served as a grenade launcher. Now he would like to return to his former profession. The man explained his decision by the desire to support servicemen during an important stage of a special military operation.

The region has a comprehensive program of support for the participants of the SVO and their families, developed on the initiative of the Governor Sergey Sitnikov. It provides for medical and social assistance, rehabilitation, legal support, assistance in retraining and employment.

According to the published information, a one-time payment to contractors from May 1, 2026 is 1.6 million rubles from the regional budget. Together with federal payments, the total amount reaches two million rubles. The monthly allowance of SVO members serving under the contract starts from 213 thousand rubles. According to regional authorities, for the first year of service, the total amount of payments may exceed five million rubles.
