About three dozen caring residents of Petrozavodsk opened a series of Saturdays at a popular sports facility. These people annually help prepare "Fountains" for the reception of skiers.
During the first meeting, the volunteers completed an impressive amount of tasks: updated the paint on the tables and a new fence at the entrance, cleared the starting zone and fork from debris, and cleared 1.2 km of the path from thickets. In addition, activists restored the entrance to the parking lot, affected by recent downpours.
According to the organizers, there are three more such events ahead. The nearest exit is scheduled for October 24 at 10:00 (collection at the cafe). The main task of the next stage is the construction of a bridge near the first fountain.
The history of this place goes back to the middle of the last century, when geologists drilled several deep wells in the forest in search of minerals. In two of them, water clogged with a strong jet, which in winter formed ice pyramids several meters high. In the 90s, the location received a new impetus thanks to the competition “Ski Calls to the Fountains”, which grew into a modern festival.
Today, the track is actively transformed: a swing appeared here, a recreation area with a bonfire bowl was equipped, and the local cafe was decorated with wooden carvings in the form of forest inhabitants. The goal of all these changes is to make the route attractive throughout its entire length.
