Today, on September 16, in the House of Press, First Deputy Minister of Information Andrei Kuntsevich awarded the winners of the republican creative contest “Praise the hands that smell of bread” for the best coverage in the media, online publications and on Internet resources of the topic of the harvesting campaign of 2026, the correspondent of sb.by reports.

In his welcoming speech, Andrei Kuntsevich noted that the harvesting season occupies a special place in the life of Belarusians:
- Our competition is not about the cleaning campaign as such. This is a competition about values - professional and life. About people and their hard peasant labor, about a country where everyone – from the President to the grain grower – understands perfectly well that our prosperity, our prosperity, peace in our Belarusian home is created by our hands, our common efforts and everyday, painstaking work.
According to him, dozens of chic journalistic works, beautiful reports and plots were presented at the competition this year, which became a real anthem for the heroes of the harvest of 2026.
- And this is not only materials about harvesters, the First Deputy Minister emphasized. These are journalistic materials about all the people who provide this difficult process: agronomists, engineers, operators of grain-drying complexes, canteen workers, soldiers of student agricultural detachments, family members of grain growers. They were also in the spotlight of our journalists. All these people really became real heroes of our peacetime, thank God, people who provided the great bread of our country.
This year, the competition was highly competitive in most categories. Representatives of the television media showed great interest in the competition compared to previous years.
- And in general, I should note that the level and quality of competitive works in comparison with previous periods was much higher, added Andrey Kuntsevich. As the President emphasized, we will live with bread. I believe that this message was the main task of our journalists. And they did this successfully.
The winner in the nomination “The best author’s material (essay, reportage, special project) in the republican print media and online publications” was Alevtina Chernovolova, own correspondent of the regional information department of the main editorial office of BelTA. In a similar nomination, but among regional print media and online publications, Elena Leshchenok, editor-in-chief of the Zara Nad Sozham newspaper editorial office, won.
Among television and radio broadcasting media, the best in the nomination “The best author’s material (video, reportage, special project)” at the republican level was recognized by Irina Nikitina, own correspondent of the Information Broadcasting Directorate of the closed joint-stock company “Second National Channel”. In the regional segment, the correspondent of RUPRTC “Mogilev Television Company” Vitalina Petrusevich won.
In the photo contest the best in the republican print and network media was Andrei Primachek, photojournalist of the photo information department of the joint secretariat of the publishing house “Belarus Today”. Among regional publications, the correspondent of the institution “Editorial Office of the newspaper Svetly Shlyakh” Sergey Yurevich won.
- We are used to measuring agriculture in hectares, centners. And here, thanks to this competition, we show and thereby popularize the image of a village worker through the people who work there, - Andrei Primachek emphasized. - My first education is agrarian, I know firsthand about the hard work of grain growers. The fate was that working in agriculture required living in the countryside, and the family chose the city. I chose a family, but at the same time I did not change the earth, did not betray it, but looked at it from the other side - through the prism of the lens. And now I praise, contemplate the beautiful and important image of the worker. They're all working on one common case. And no matter what district you come to, they meet each other everywhere, smile everywhere, are happy to see.
