Gygin - about what makes up the well-being of the Belarusian economy

About how deflation and income growth affect the mood of society, why people are skeptical of economic achievements and what is behind the well-being of the economy, on the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio” reasoned Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, General Director of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin. Commenting on the news that deflation was recorded in our country in August - a decrease in prices, when you can buy more goods for the same money, the guest of the program admitted that such figures are treated with caution:

- I talk to people in collectives, at the place of residence, going to the regions. I am very careful about the data on the growth of real wealth, deflation. People in any society are somewhat skeptical about such achievements: a person always wants more.

At the same time, the real growth of welfare and incomes of citizens is undeniable, Vadim Gigin stressed:

- As much as we want more, it is something that objectively affects the mood of society. This is evidenced by the results of the republican sociological study.

The Deputy listed the positive economic indicators:

- More recently, we recorded GDP growth – still less than two percent, but growth. We see an increase in trade turnover. Problems with the Russian market are being solved, new tasks are being set – to take the bar of trade turnover of $ 60 billion. There are positive developments in other markets. In particular, trade with China has recently increased. This is what makes the economy well.

Separately, Vadim Gigin focused on stimulating the domestic market and tourism:
Separately, Vadim Gigin focused on stimulating the domestic market and tourism:

- The government is very competently, accurately and carefully stimulating the consumer market in Belarus. We didn't pay that much attention before, we thought the market was small. But no, he's very important. I have already seen positive developments in tourism. Income from inbound tourism is beginning to seriously affect many economic indicators, especially in the regional context.

The talk show “Budney” is released on weekdays on the morning air of “Alfa Radio”. Each issue discusses the most relevant topics from the life of the country and the world.
