Sentenced 51-year-old previously repeatedly convicted resident of Gomel, who was accused of theft, told the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti” in the Prosecutor’s office of Pervomaysky district.

On December 30, 2025, the accused arrived in Minsk to meet with friends about employment. Around noon he went into the store on the street. Nikiforov to buy gifts for his family. Then he decided to steal it.

A guest of the capital put three boxes of cognac worth 431.59 BYN in a package, after which he left the store.

In March, a resident of Gomel was detained, another criminal case was opened against him. He confessed his guilt and repented of what he had done.

- The accused is not officially employed anywhere, he was previously brought to criminal responsibility ten times, including for committing property crimes, said Margarita Potemkina, senior assistant prosecutor of the Pervomaysky district, who acted as a state prosecutor in the criminal case. The court found him guilty of secret theft of property (theft), committed repeatedly, and on the basis of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code imposed a punishment in the form of restriction of freedom without sending him to an open-type correctional institution for a period of 2 years 6 months. In addition, the accused must compensate for the damage caused to the outlet.
