Rowing further: the completion of the construction of the rowing center near Astrakhan again moved

The construction of the Center for water and rowing sports in the village of Yaksatovo, Volga district of the Astrakhan region is again delayed. As it became known to “MK in Astrakhan”, the terms of work under the state contract can be extended until December 31, 2028. Thus, the completion of construction, which was previously planned for 2026, is again postponed.

The possibility of postponement of terms is provided for the contract concluded in May 2024. Changes must be agreed between the customer and the contractor. At the same time, the actual completion of construction or the readiness of the complex for opening is not yet in question.

The history of this sports long-term construction stretches from 2010. The complex is being built on the banks of the Kizan River, between the villages of Yaksatovo and Atal. Work stopped in 2014 due to lack of funding. In 2018, construction was resumed, hoping to commission the facility by 2020, but these plans were never implemented.

In the future, construction has repeatedly faced difficulties. Criminal cases related to the use of budget funds arose around the implementation of the project. In 2024, the completion of the complex returned with the support of the federal center. The initial cost of the new contract was almost 2.2 billion rubles.

In August 2026, the readiness of the facility was estimated at 76%. At the same time, the prospects of completing the construction and further use of the sports complex were discussed.

According to the project, an indoor rowing pool, boats, stands for 500 spectators, hotel buildings, a medical center and other sports infrastructure facilities should appear on the territory of 16 hectares.
