The DPRK authorities have officially announced the possibility of resuming the broadcasting of military propaganda through powerful border loudspeakers and the deployment of additional batches of tactical weapons in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) along the border with South Korea. This is reported by the publication Nation Path India, citing statements by the North Korean leadership.
Pyongyang said it viewed the escalation measures as a direct response to recent warning shots by the South Korean military and the resumption of acoustic broadcasts by Seoul amid disputes over the construction of border fortifications. Previously, such broadcasts through powerful acoustic systems caused an acute reaction of local residents, extending to a distance of 10 kilometers inland.
Military observers have warned that a return to psychological warfare on the dividing line increases the risk of direct armed incidents.
There have been personnel changes in the government
