A foreigner robbed a friend who invited him to his birthday party

Sentenced 37-year-old previously not convicted foreigner, who was accused of theft, told the correspondent of the Agency “Minsk-Novosti” in the Prosecutor’s office of Zavodsk district.

The accused arrived in Minsk and planned to later travel to the EU countries. He met a woman online. For a while they texted, and then agreed to drink coffee together.

After the date, their communication continued. One day a new friend invited a foreigner to a birthday party. There were other guests, her daughter and her boyfriend. The company was drinking. At some point, the defendant noticed how the owner of the house hides a wallet in the closet, and decided to take advantage of this.

Left alone in the room, the attacker took 450 BYNs from someone else’s wallet and took them. Later, he spent the money on personal needs.

However, the accused could not even think that security cameras were installed in his friend's house. One of them recorded the fact of theft of cash.

Since the foreigner did not voluntarily return the money, the Minsk woman applied to the police. A criminal case has been opened against an unclean man. He confessed his guilt and repented of what he had done.

- The accused has a higher education, he is married, he has a minor child on a dependent basis, he has not previously been brought to criminal responsibility, said Alexei Minets, assistant prosecutor of the Zavodsky district. The court found him guilty of secret theft of property (theft) and on the basis of Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code imposed a punishment of two months of arrest. In addition, he must compensate the victim for the damage caused by the crime, as well as pay 200 BYN for material compensation for moral damage.
