NAO Governor Irina Gekht took part in the forum “Business Russia”, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the organization. At the plenary session with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the development of small and medium-sized businesses was discussed in the format of a video conference.
According to the head of the region, such meetings allow entrepreneurs from different regions to speak directly with the country’s leadership about what prevents opening production facilities, developing new markets, and investing in technologies. Here, business proposals become a subject of joint discussion with the federal and regional authorities.
For NAO, one of the main issues is the cost of doing business in the Arctic. Expensive delivery, power supply, operation of equipment in harsh climates, northern allowances to employees increase costs. As a result, a very modest profit can be behind high turnover.
At the meeting, Irina Gekht raised the topic of tax conditions for entrepreneurs. Including the preservation for 2027 of preferential rates on USN: in the NAO now it is 1% of income or 5% of the difference between income and expenses. Identified a proposal to establish for Arctic business on a simplified system the threshold of annual income for VAT in the amount of 60 million rubles.
There are almost two thousand small and medium-sized businesses in the district. They need to be able to calculate their strength in advance, buy equipment, hire people. And residents - use the usual services and purchase goods at affordable prices.
The Governor thanked her colleagues for the substantive conversation, noting that when discussing common decisions for the country, it is necessary to hear those who conduct their business in small northern settlements.
