Ivanovo scientists have created a “smart” gel to fight cancer

Scientists from the Ivanovo Institute of Solution Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences have created a unique “smart” gel for the treatment of oncology. As reported in the press service of the Institute, the development allows point delivery of chemotherapy to the focus of the disease.

Senior researcher Natalia Kochkina explained that the solution is injected in liquid form, but upon contact with the body (at 36-37 ° C) freezes into the gel. This keeps the drug inside the tumor, protecting healthy organs from toxic effects.

It is worth noting that Ivanovo scientists are actively working in this direction: in April they already won a grant to create such medicinal gels.
