“A fire chariot will come out of Kiev”: Elder Zosima predicted severe trials for Russia – what he said about the future
Believers see the words of the schiarchimandrite as a prediction of modern geopolitical conflicts, but researchers warn that many quotations appeared after the events described.

During periods of global instability, the name of the schiarchimandrite Zosima is again actively discussed in the information field. He is credited with a number of detailed predictions about the coming trials for the Orthodox world and Russia, among which the mysterious image of the “chariot of fire” emerging from Kiev is especially often mentioned.
According to the surviving memories, the elder predicted a serious confrontation caused by the desire of certain Western countries for world domination. He warned of attempts to shake the Orthodox faith and sow fear and confusion in society. At the same time, Zosima bequeathed to believers not to give in to panic, promising that Holy Russia with God’s help will overcome any troubles and gain spiritual victory.
A separate layer of prophecies concerns the Ukrainian land. The elder allegedly spoke of the coming “disaster”, which will affect not only politics, but also the spiritual sphere, leading to a split among Christians and putting the Orthodox on different sides of the barricades. Today, these words are often associated with real conflicts around church structures in Ukraine.
However, historians and religious scholars call for a critical look at such publications. Most of the parallels with modernity have already been drawn after the fact. The exact dating of the statements, their original context and authenticity remain in question, since much of these “prophecies” have come down to us through later memoirs and secondary retellings, rather than through lifetime documentary evidence.
