In Tula, teachers of history and social studies were presented with the possibilities of the federal portal “History.RF”. A press conference on the use of digital resources in the work of teachers was held on October 14 at the Tula Defense Museum, Tula Press reports.
The event was attended by teachers from different districts of the Tula region. Some teachers joined the meeting in an online format.
The organizers were the Tula regional branch of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO), the Ministry of Education of the Tula region and the Tula Museum Association. The meeting was held as part of the implementation of the decree of the President of Russia on the approval of the Basics of State Policy in the Field of Historical Education.
Head of the regional branch of RVIO Alexander Potapenko touched upon the choice of history textbooks in Tula schools. According to him, there is no single approach: educational institutions use more than ten different publications, and the decision to choose a textbook is often made by the head of the school.
As Potapenko explained, this topic attracted attention after the visit to Tula of the Chairman of the RVIO Vladimir Medinsky, who asked what textbooks in the region teach history.
The head of the regional office also shared his observations on how the lack of historical knowledge can affect the professional sphere. Recalling his work on the railway, where he ran a large enterprise, Potapenko said that when coordinating candidates for positions, applicants for about 35 years, who grew up in the 1990s, often met. According to him, questions on history they were practically not asked, so as not to put candidates in an uncomfortable position.
The main part of the meeting was the discussion of the possibilities of the portal “History.RF”. The resource can be used in preparation for the exam, organization of extracurricular classes and studying the history of the Tula region. The platform hosts proven materials and video lectures that allow you to view historical events from different points of view.
In addition, a mobile application was developed for textbooks. With its help, students can study topics and check the knowledge gained.
Alexander Potapenko stressed that the activities of the Russian Military Historical Society are not limited to the work of professional historians. The organization includes representatives of different professions, and teachers can participate in its projects.
According to the head of the department, the preservation of historical memory includes publishing activities, the work of search teams, the restoration of monuments and the establishment of the names of the dead. Such practical work, he believes, helps to acquaint the younger generation with the past of the country and foster civic responsibility.
Earlier, MK in Tula wrote that Tula school No. 14 celebrated its 80th anniversary. A symbolic dialogue unfolded on the stage between a student with the old alphabet and a teacher who personifies her future.
