How has the bridge changed after major repairs
In the Starokulatkinsky district of the Ulyanovsk region, traffic on the bridge over the Kulatka River was reopened

In the Starokulatkinsky district of the Ulyanovsk region, traffic on the bridge over the Kulatka River was reopened. The crossing on the Old Kulatka-Bakhteevka road was overhauled as part of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”. Specialists replaced the worn structures, strengthened the supports and updated the road surface.
The bridge connects the settlements of Chuvash Kulatka and Bakhteevka with the district center. There is also a school route along this road, so the state of the crossing is of particular importance for local residents.
During the years of operation, the structure was noticeably worn out. The survey revealed damage to the road surface and waterproofing, corrosion of metal elements of the span structure, as well as cracks and destruction of concrete on the supports. These defects posed a threat to traffic safety.
During the overhaul, the builders replaced the beams of the span structure and updated the supports. Such works allowed to increase the carrying capacity of the bridge taking into account modern transport loads.
Then specialists restored the bridge and areas of conjugation with access roads. At the very crossing and approaches, a two-layer asphalt concrete coating was laid.
Special attention was paid to the safety of motorists and pedestrians. Galvanized barrier fences and composite railings were installed on the bridge. In addition, new road signs and signal posts appeared, and horizontal markings were applied to the roadway.
After the completion of the main works, the movement of transport on the updated crossing was resumed. For residents of the nearest settlements, this means the restoration of the usual route to the district center.
The reconstruction of the bridge across Kulatka became part of a large-scale work to update the road infrastructure of the Ulyanovsk region. The overhaul was carried out under the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
Currently, work on the four bridges included in the program has been completed in the region. At other sites, repairs are ongoing. The total readiness of the planned bridge works is 76%.
