Every square meter of public real estate should work to strengthen the country’s economic potential, not vice versa. Deputies of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy agree with this axiom. Today, on October 22, parliamentarians held a retreat session on the topic “Involvement of unused and inefficiently used state property in economic turnover as a tool to stimulate the development of entrepreneurship and attract investment in the national economy”. The meeting was held in Dokshitsky and Gluboki districts of Vitebsk region, writes sb.by.

Undoubtedly, effective property management and elimination of dead cargo in the form of idle buildings and structures remain one of the most important tasks of sustainable development of the regions. Real estate gets a second life when new businesses open in unused buildings. The topic of the meeting is the most mundane, relevant for the life of the state, so a significant role was assigned to the practical part. Deputies got acquainted with a number of organizations of the two districts. In particular, this hotel complex hostel type, the company for the production of perfume products "Kosmoinvest", Glubok furniture center, etc. Now these are successful projects, but this was not always the case. In their place were completely different objects that are no longer useful.

- For the economy of the country, it is important that real estate gives returns, otherwise it is a ballast that needs to be disposed of. The issues of involving unused and inefficiently used state property in economic turnover must be resolved jointly. Today, we, as members of parliament, have been actively studying the law. I would like to emphasize that a strong legislative framework has been created, the main decree of the Head of State on the disposal of property, where everything is written, how to work. In addition, there are a number of resolutions of the Council of Ministers, regulations on the use of property. We are still watching how the Law “On Investments” works, Viktor Nikolaikin, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Policy, said in a comment to journalists.

As part of the visiting session, the parliamentarians also visited the Shunevka memorial complex in the Dokshitsky district on the site of a village burned during the Great Patriotic War. As a sign of memory and sorrow, the people’s representatives laid flowers at the monument.
