Kaliningrad taekwondists won gold and silver in the suburbs

All-Russian competitions in taekwondo “Battle of Moscow region 2026” were held in the suburbs. This was reported in the Ministry of Sport of the Kaliningrad region.

928 athletes from 36 regions of the country entered the battlefield. In addition to classical sparring and formal complexes, interactive (virtual) taekwondo was added to the tournament program for the first time. In this discipline, athletes fight in special simulators. The task is to “exhaust” the opponent’s health with virtual kicks in 60 seconds. Physical strikes and any attempts to influence the game from the outside are prohibited.

Kaliningrad region brought two awards from the tournament. In the weight category up to 46 kg, the pupil Varvara Popova reached the final, but lost to Maria Karnauch from the Smolensk region and became a silver medalist.

And her mentor, Vice-President of the Regional Taekwondo Federation Alexei Samokhin, became the winner of the competition among men over 35 years old. It surpassed rivals from Moscow, Stavropol Territory, Chelyabinsk and Kirov regions.

Earlier it was reported that Kaliningrad students became winners of the Spartakiad of Russian students in taekwondo.
