Kalmyk philologist joined the international committee for the preservation of epics

Scientist of B. B. Gorodovikov Kalmyk State University Bosch Borlykov became a member of the international academic committee of the North-Western University of Nationalities of China. The committee was created to study and preserve great epics.

The inclusion in the committee was preceded by an international scientific symposium dedicated to the epics “Geser”, “Jangar” and “Manas”. It was held from October 14 to 17 in Lanzhou and brought together more than 120 researchers from eight countries. Russia at the forum was represented by leading scientists, among whom was the candidate of philological sciences Bosch Borlykova.

In the “Jangara” section, she presented two reports. The first, prepared together with colleagues from KalmSU, is devoted to vodka and tobacco in the oral and written tradition of the Oirats. The work was funded by a grant from the Foundation for the Promotion of Buddhist Education and Research. The second report concerned onomasticon in the Sart-Kalmyk version of Dzhangar and folk songs.

As a result of the symposium, Borlykova joined the international academic committee of the Northwestern University of Nationalities, which is engaged in the study and preservation of great epics.
