Caludians with visual impairment help to gain independence

Since the beginning of 2026, the Department of the Social Fund of Russia in the Kaluga region has provided 250 residents of the region with visual impairment with technical means of rehabilitation worth more than 10.4 million rubles. Another 20 people were able to find work.

Among the available tools were smartphones with voice control, devices for listening to books and Braille displays.

The fund also helps to get guide dogs and pays for the training of owners to work with animals. Since the beginning of the year, these dogs were provided to eight residents of the region, two more are being trained.

In addition, owners of guide dogs are compensated for the costs of maintenance and veterinary maintenance. Since February 2026, the annual payment for these purposes is 39 351.15 rubles, and 83.9 thousand rubles per year are provided for feed.

According to Daniil Aganichev, head of the regional branch of the SFR, the support system includes not only technical rehabilitation, but also assistance in employment and daily life.
