It has been celebrated on October 15 since 1993 to draw public attention to the problem of the disease and emphasize the importance of early diagnosis.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide. The earlier it is detected, the higher the chances of successful treatment.
For example, in 2025, breast cancer accounted for 19% of the total number of malignant neoplasms in Russia. 86,705 people were ill. At the same time, from 2015 to 2025, the share of identified patients with the first stage increased to 36%, RIA Novosti reports.
This suggests that all actions aimed at earlier detection of the disease have borne fruit.
By the way, in the Kaluga region, they are conducted by a regional oncology center. There are open days, meetings with oncologists and preventive actions.
Kalujan women are asked to pay attention to changes in the mammary gland. This can be unusual seals, changes in the shape or size of the breast, the appearance of unusual discharge.
As reported by “MK in Kaluga” earlier, Kaluga residents call the “hotline” by SARS.
