Kaluga scientists tested crops in the fields

On the experimental fields of the Kaluga NIISH, specialists studied the condition of winter grains, alfalfa and miscanthus. The results of the survey will help clarify the recommendations for agricultural producers in the region.

The working trip was conducted by the head of the Kaluga branch of the Rosselkhozcenter Mikhail Gulov and the director of the NIISH Vladimir Mazurov.

Particular attention was paid to winter grains sown at different times. Comparison will determine when it is best to sow taking into account the local climate.

Also, experts examined alfalfa: after July mowing, it formed about a centner of seeds per hectare, but at the time of inspection they were not fully ripe.

In addition, the scientists estimated the increase in the green mass of miscanthus - a technical culture that is used in bioenergy and cellulose production.

The collected data will help farmers to choose effective agricultural techniques, more accurately determine the timing of harvesting and take into account the impact of weather conditions on plant development, reports the branch of FGBI Rosselkhozcenter in the Kaluga region.

As told earlier “MK in Kaluga”, Kaluga region has collected a record harvest of oilseeds.
