Stones, bottles and tear gas: police in Argentina injured
In Buenos Aires during clashes near the Congress building injured eight policemen, another 25 people were detained

In Buenos Aires, eight police officers were injured in clashes near the congress building and 25 others were detained. This was reported by the Argentine TV channel A24.
Thousands of people protested against the Argentine government’s education policy on Thursday. Initially, the action was peaceful.
Later, a group of people with closed faces approached the metal fences around Congress and began throwing rocks and bottles at law enforcement. In response, the police used tear gas and water cannons.
The reason for the discontent was the situation with the funding of universities. In 2025, both houses of parliament approved a bill to increase funding for higher education institutions, but the Argentine president vetoed it.
In 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of universities and ordered the authorities to implement a law providing for higher salaries for teachers and university employees, as well as an increase in student scholarships. According to the source, the authorities have not yet implemented this decision.
