Karachay-Cherkessia is among the top ten leaders of Russia on prevention of social orphanhood

Five regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, including Karachay-Cherkessia, were among the ten leaders of the All-Russian rating of subjects in the field of prevention of social orphanhood in 2026.

The results were discussed at a meeting of the Council under the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the NCFD chaired by Yuri Chaika with the participation of the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, heads of district subjects and heads of law enforcement agencies.

Chaika said that there is an annual decrease in the number of orphans in state organizations in the district, and Karachay-Cherkessia is no exception. According to him, the North Caucasus has always been famous for large strong families, and when choosing a form of education, the priority is aimed at keeping the child in the family of relatives and close people. The main goal of common work is to preserve the child’s native family and help her overcome a difficult life situation. The Plenipotentiary noted that this is the aim of Lviv-Belova’s initiative to open regional offices of the Child Protection Fund, supported by President Vladimir Putin. In Karachay-Cherkessia, work is already underway to create a regional fund.

Earlier it was reported that in the Stavropol region parents were told about the career guidance of schoolchildren before the autumn holidays.
