Potatoes for 25 rubles, sugar for 58: what was traded at the autumn fair in Ulyanovsk

About 5.6 thousand people visited the autumn agricultural fair, which was held on October 17 on Gaia Avenue in Ulyanovsk. Local manufacturers presented products totaling 9.3 million rubles. Some products can be purchased much cheaper than in stores.

One of the most affordable products was potatoes. It was sold at 25-30 rubles per kilogram against 37 rubles in retail chains. Onions and cabbage were offered 20 rubles each. The difference in cost was noticeable on other shelves: sugar cost buyers 58-60 rubles per kilogram with an average store price of 83.57 rubles, and a liter of milk cost 100 rubles instead of 130 rubles in the Central market.

The meat products were of great interest. Pork was sold from 340 rubles per kilogram, beef - from 550 rubles, lamb - 800 rubles, and broiler chickens - 350 rubles. Fish, including bream, carp and perch, could be purchased for 150-400 rubles depending on the size.

In total, 236 cars with agricultural products arrived in the Railway District to participate in the trade. Farmers and other producers delivered about 25 tons of vegetables, 10.3 tons of meat, 15.5 tons of sugar and 28.8 thousand eggs. Buyers were also offered dairy products, fish and other food products.

The results of the event were summed up by the Minister of Agro-Industrial Complex and Rural Development of the Ulyanovsk Region Alexey Leushkin. The fair gathered several thousand buyers and became the next stage of autumn trade in local agricultural products.

The next regional agricultural fairs will be held on October 24 in Novoulyanovsk and Dimitrovgrad.
