Kazakhstan has complicated the rules of electronic entry permits for Russians
The government of Kazakhstan approved the procedure for issuing electronic entry permits for foreigners who do not require a visa

The government of Kazakhstan has approved the procedure for issuing electronic entry permits for foreigners who do not require a visa. Russians, as well as citizens of other countries with a visa-free regime, will need to issue such a permit mandatory from July 1, 2027. This follows from the resolution published in the Reference Control Bank of regulatory legal acts of the republic.
The document states that citizens of the EAEU countries and states with which Kazakhstan has concluded international agreements on visa-free travel will be able to enter and transit through the territory of the republic only with an electronic permit. From July 1, 2027, the absence of such a document will be the basis for refusal of entry.
The document itself comes into force on October 24. New entry and transit regimes will be introduced in stages. At the first stage, it is not planned to refuse those who have not issued a permit. From 1 November this year, permits will start working at Aktau International Airport and at a number of road checkpoints.
From the beginning of 2027, e-permit will be introduced in the air harbors of Astana and Almaty. And from the first day of spring 2027 – at all the remaining checkpoints.
