Khizhnyak: 76% of Belarusian exports shifted to the East – SCO membership gives results

Chairman of the Republican Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak on the air of the talk show “Budni” on the YouTube channel “SBTV” and “Alfa Radio” commented on the diversification of Belarusian exports and cooperation within the SCO. Alexander Khizhnyak noted that Belarus’ membership in the SCO brings concrete results:

- Belarus has been living under sanctions for a long time and has been diversifying exports from trade in goods to investment projects and joint cooperation. The fact that 76 percent of exports shifted to the east suggests that Belarus’ membership in organizations such as the SCO is working. The head of state stressed the need for concrete steps that would benefit all parties. We need to move away from barriers and protectionism and work together for concrete results. This policy is confirmed by the figure of 76 percent announced by the Prime Minister of Belarus.

The guest of the air expressed the opinion that it is not worth leaving the developed markets:

- If our goods are bought somewhere, it is foolish to leave the market and hope that someone will open the market on their own.
