The economy of Kalmykia has created new jobs

The support of the government of Kalmykia helped the Altair peasant farm in the Maloderbetovsky district to expand production.
A few years ago, the farm received funds under a regional support program. They bought agricultural machinery and equipment to reduce the time of field work, increase yield and quality of the harvest. In recent years, the company has more than doubled its wheat production and created eight new jobs.
Part of the grain is used in the farm as feed for livestock, but a large proportion goes to the sale. Products are bought by Elista and Volgograd enterprises for the production of flour. At the same time, Kalmyk grain is highly valued for its quality and is supplied abroad. The farm cooperates with the Rostov export company, which sends wheat to Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia.
The growth of grain production has created a strong feed base for the second line of activity – livestock. KFH Altair has been operating since 2009, and in 2019 it received the status of a breeding reproducer for breeding cattle of the Kalmyk breed. The farm supplies breeding livestock not only to other regions of the region, but also beyond its borders - to Kabardino-Balkaria, Astrakhan, Lipetsk, Rostov, Volgograd regions, Stavropol Territory and Dagestan. The quality of cattle is annually confirmed at national and all-Russian exhibitions.
