Khrenin: the army needs commanders who are able to quickly make decisions in a difficult situation, act unconventionally

The army needs those commanders who will be able to quickly make decisions and act in a complex, non-standard environment. On this day, November 6, said the Minister of defense of Belarus Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin in communication with journalists after the opening of the updated training center of the Military Academy in the Borisov district, reports sb.by.

The head of the Defense Ministry noted that the large-scale reconstruction of the training center should be viewed not only as an infrastructure acquisition, but much more broadly:

- The environment and time itself require us to equip such facilities. The head of state has repeatedly said that a hybrid war has been waged against our country for a long time and, unfortunately, its intensity will only grow. To ensure that this war does not escalate into a hot phase, we are focusing our efforts in the Armed Forces on structural transformations, building up combat potential, combat component, saturating the Armed Forces with modern models of military and special equipment. Only this year, more than 80 samples of various equipment were adopted. The troops received more than tens of thousands of different samples for operation and training.

- The President has also repeatedly focused on this. He clearly said: an officer will be trained, so he will be able to train, train a soldier, and in battle and protect him. Today, the army needs those commanders who will be able to quickly make decisions in a complex, non-standard environment, act unconventionally.

A decade ago, the lion’s share of the main training programs of cadets was occupied by theory. Today, the approach has been radically changed – more than 70 percent of the training time is spent in practice. An officer should come to the troops not with a raw presentation, but with well-honed, worked-out skills in shooting, driving, controlling, knowledge of all the subtleties that are used in combat today, Viktor Khrenin noted:

- According to the experience of a special military operation, the forms and methods of warfare have changed significantly. We can see how important automation is today. The lion’s share in the fire defeat was taken by unmanned aerial vehicles, robotic complexes. It is no coincidence that we called the next academic year in the Armed Forces the Year of Improving the System of Countering Unmanned Aviation Complexes. In order for our officers to receive all these skills, this training center was reconstructed. The entire infrastructure that has been created here, starting with the places of accommodation, operation and maintenance of educational equipment, as well as the facilities themselves at the training ground, is aimed at this: all the skills that are so needed on the battlefield should be obtained here.
