“Klavdia Elanskaya” passed the security check without cancellation of flights

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping checked the passenger ship “Claudia Yelanska” and did not remove the vessel from flights. This was reported by the press service of the RMRS. A year ago, transportation by ship was temporarily replaced by helicopter flights.

Inspectors of the Murmansk branch confirmed that the vessel meets all safety requirements and technical standards. They examined the body, mechanisms, power plants, electrical, radio and navigation equipment, rescue and fire-fighting equipment. All systems were working normally.

The inspection was carried out without interruption from operation: the ship continued to perform flights. This is the only passenger ship that connects remote areas of the region with the regional center. For locals, the sea line is a vital link: it allows you to deliver passengers, mail, essential goods and medical supplies.

Let's clarify that the ship "Claudia Elanskaya" was built in 1977 and now it is about 49 years old. Last year, the ship was temporarily removed from the line for scheduled repairs needed to renew security documents. At the time of work, the connection between Murmansk and ZATO Ostrovnaya was provided by Mi-8 helicopters, which can accommodate 22 passengers - about ten times less than the ship. Island is not connected to other municipalities by road and rail, so sea transportation remains an important part of transport.

Earlier, “MK in Murmansk” said that the new “Captain”-krabolov raced through storms from Nakhodka to Murmansk in 20 days.
