When payment for travel by bank card will appear in Minsk: what the general director of Minsktrans said

Payment for travel by bank card in land transport in Minsk has not yet been launched. Why and what will happen with paper coupons, said the General Director of Minsktrans Konstantin Gololobov in the project “Face to face” on ONT.by. He did not give an exact launch date.

Why is it so long

According to Konstantin Gololobov, the reason is that Minsk chose its own payment scheme:

“The complexity is actually there,” the general director of Minsktrans admitted. - You said it right. And to begin with, Minsk probably did not follow the traditional path adopted in terms of payment of a bank card.

He explained that if you pay only online without the Internet, the passenger will not pay for the fare. When paying offline, it is possible that after the appearance of the connection it will turn out that there are no funds on the card, it is blocked or expired. Therefore, we have developed a hybrid system: payment takes place both online and offline under certain conditions. The Gololobov scheme called complex.

Therefore, the development of this system, the scheme, requires significant development and operation in the industrial mode, he concluded.

What's already done

The system was tested on bus route 1 and trolleybus route 1. The next stage is the purchase of equipment:

“When we now clearly understood, made sure that the system is working out all the functions assigned to it, then proceed to the procedure for purchasing equipment,” says Konstantin Gololobov.

According to him, the requirements for equipment were also formed taking into account developments.

By operating this system, we now clearly understand what you need to buy, how to purchase in order to buy the very necessary equipment that will ensure its performance. We are at this stage, so as the equipment will be purchased, the system will work and work not only in Minsk

Gololobov noted that the system will work throughout the republic on the basis of the processing center “Minsktrans”.

Will paper stamps remain

They will remain at least in the first phase.

“You can not simultaneously get away from a paper stamp,” said the general director of Minsktrans.

Gololobov explained that there are passengers who do not carry a bank card and do not start it, including fear of fraudsters, as well as elderly people and guests of the capital. The ticket can be bought at the subway ticket office, at kiosks or from the driver and composted:

“It will definitely remain in the first phase. There is a category of citizens who are used to using this method of payment, he concluded.
