Who will be closed access to WhatsApp and Telegram from November 1, 2026
Popular messengers are preparing mass blocking. We tell you who will fall into the risk group and how to save your correspondence before “X hour”.

From November 1, 2026, WhatsApp* and Telegram will tighten the rules for using services. Under the digital ban will fall those who neglected basic security or did not follow the software of their smartphone.
The three main reasons for account loss are:
1. SIM card in someone else's name. If your number is officially registered to a spouse, parent or acquaintance, the algorithms may consider it a violation. There are thousands of users at risk who do not even suspect who their SIM is actually designed for.
2. Outdated gadgets. Messengers regularly disable support for older versions of operating systems. If your device doesn’t pull fresh updates, the app will simply stop running.
3. Ignoring verification. If the platform requested proof of age or identity, and you missed the system notification, access to the chats will be closed until the circumstances are clarified.
How to avoid blocking?
Experts advise not to postpone the inspection to the last day. Visit the communication salon and reissue the SIM card personally. Download current versions of apps and be sure to set up two-factor authentication – this is the best protection against hacking.
Careful, scammers!
Amid the news, the scammers went hunting. Users massively receive fake fuss about “urgent re-registration” with a request to name the code from SMS. Remember the golden rule: tech support messengers never ask for passwords and codes in personal correspondence.
Spend 10 minutes checking your settings today so you don’t lose touch with your loved ones tomorrow!
Meta (owner of WhatsApp) is recognized as an extremist organization, its activities in Russia are prohibited.
