Kostromics can make 20 wishes in an hour

On the night of October 21-22, residents and guests of Kostroma are waiting for a space show. With clear weather, the peak of the Orionid meteor shower can be observed in the night sky. Experts predict that at the zenith will fly from 15 to 20 meteors per hour.
Employees of the Kostroma Planetarium note that for successful observation it is best to go outside the city, in an easterly direction, where the sky is not illuminated by street lamps.
You need to look for Orionids in the eastern part of the sky, in the region of the constellation Orion, which is easily recognized by the three stars of the Belt. The best time is after midnight and before dawn, astronomers explained.
It should be borne in mind that this year’s observations may interfere with the bright moon, creating additional illumination. Orionids are particles of the plume of the famous Halley Comet. Flying into the atmosphere at great speed, the dust particles burn, leaving bright traces.
In order not to miss the flash, experts advise to dress warmly, be patient and look not at one point, but cover the whole sky with a look.
