Cities-resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters demonstrate anomalously high popularity among representatives of the Boomer generation (people over the age of 60). The leader of sympathies was Kislovodsk, which is in demand among this category of travelers almost four times more often than the national average.
According to a large Russian bank specializing in consumer behavior analytics, Kislovodsk is chosen for trips 3.7 times more often than the national average. The three most popular destinations for a mature audience also included Essentuki and Pyatigorsk. Thus, the CMB cluster effectively monopolized the tourist interest of the older age group.
Experts attribute the expressed interest of Boomers to CMV with the stable demand for sanatorium-resort treatment in the age category focused on the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Also, the attractiveness of resorts is affected by large-scale improvement of recent years. It has made the urban environment accessible and aesthetically attractive, which stimulates not only one-time trips, but also the formation of the habit of “return” tourism.
However, experts note that, despite the status of “health resort for seniors”, the course for diversification of tourist flow is obvious. Therefore, the top priority on the agenda of the administrations of resort cities is to create conditions under which the classic medical format will be attractive for younger travelers.
Earlier it was reported that the resort in the KCR topped the rating of investment attractiveness of tourist SEZs of Russia.
