President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented state awards to honored representatives of various spheres. The solemn ceremony was organized at the Palace of Independence on September 14, on the eve of National Unity Day, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports with reference to the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The Head of State noted that the Day of National Unity returned to the national holiday calendar five years ago, and the date of September 17, 1939, he called the most important stage in the formation of national statehood.
- After the return of Western lands to the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, we became a single people with a common history, culture and language, which were banned in Western Belarus under the oppression of the Polish state. This is a fact, Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. It’s hard to imagine today, but it happened. Like there were Belarusians who did not spare their lives, so that we “Magli Ludzmi Zvazza”. There were many such people. And although we began to widely celebrate the Day of National Unity recently, until the last, unnecessarily trying to spare the feelings of our Western neighbor, this date was still in the heart of our people. And confirmation of this - almost 200 streets, avenues, squares and boulevards, named in honor of this date - September 17.

According to the President, the holiday took root and fell in love, took an honorable place along with the main holidays - Victory Day and Independence Day.
- History has repeatedly proved that no matter what happens, it is impossible to buy Belarusians, they cannot be intimidated and separated, Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state thanked all the awardees for what they do for the country, for honest work, talent, sleepless nights and work without days off, noting that without this such high results do not happen.
Orders, medals and honorary titles are a sign that the country sees and appreciates your efforts. This is a gratitude from millions of compatriots and, of course, from me personally – for peace, prosperity, a happy present and a beautiful future. People like you always strive for the new, perfect and by their work show us an example of high service to our Fatherland, the Belarusian leader said.

Ah. Lukashenko wholeheartedly congratulated the participants on the well-deserved awards and wished them good health, peace, goodness and new achievements for the benefit of the Motherland.
