Lukyanov: Belarus is a comfortable and stable country, so most people do not want to leave
Belarus is a comfortable and economically stable state, so most do not plan and do not want to live in Belarus.

Belarus is a comfortable and economically stable state, so most do not plan and do not want to move from the country. This was stated by the head of the main department of ideological work and youth affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee Alexander Lukyanov, commenting on the results of a large-scale sociological study of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus commissioned by BISI, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
- We have a good tradition of conducting large-scale sociological research. It is symbolic that the sociological survey published today by the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences and the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies comes out on the eve of a very important state holiday – the Day of National Unity, Lukyanov said.
The figures reflect the unity of the majority of respondents who were interviewed in sufficient numbers not only in Minsk, but also in regional centers and regions. At the same time, the most important indicator is emphasized: people aspire to live in Belarus.
- More than 70% of respondents want to live in a specific area, city, small settlement, where their children are now, and, of course, they expect that these conditions will be met.
He stressed that the majority of people do not just plan, but do not want to move from the country, realizing that today Belarus is the most comfortable and stable state in terms of economy, social services and security.
- It is very important that in the sociological study the technical task was formed in such a way as to obtain a certain field for work – promising growth points in order to improve, “don-build” the system. The country’s leadership takes into account the opinion of the common man in order for decisions to be long-term, based on public opinion and have an effect for each person, Lukyanov concluded.
In July - August 2026, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus commissioned by BISI conducted a comprehensive republican sociological study. It was attended by 2,045 respondents from all regions of the country.
